B. Referred Pain

Referred pain is pain perceived at a location other than the site of the painful stimulus / origin. It’s the result of a network of interconnecting sensory nerves. This network supplies many different tissues. When there is an injury at one place in the network, this pain can be interpreted in the brain to radiate nerves. And can give pain elsewhere in the related areas of the network.

C. Vagus Nerve Relevant to BioAcoustic Biology

The vagus nerve is the longest and most complex of the 12 pairs of cranial nerves that emanate from the brain. It transmits information to or from the surface of the brain to tissues and organs elsewhere in the body.

Superior Laryngeal Nerve links the larynx to the vagus nerve.

E. Otoacoustic Emissions

Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) are sounds which arise in the ear canal when (paradoxically) the tympanum receives vibrations transmitted backwards through the middle ear from the cochlea. These vibrations occur as a by-product of a unique and vulnerable cochlear mechanism which has become known as the ‘cochlear amplifier’ and which contributes greatly to the sensitivity and discrimination of hearing.
